As of Thursday, January 16, 2014 the NBA’s Sacramento Kings have begun to accept Bitcoin as a form of payment for purchases. The Kings will depend on Bitpay to carry out the transactions. Bitpay is an intermediary group that directly deals with Bitcoin transactions. A spokesman for the Kings said, “With Bitpay, we are able to implement a technology that allows our fans to make Kings-related purchases without physically reaching into their wallets.”
The Kings are now accepting Bitcoin for payments at their team store. Many people prefer paying in Bitcoin because it is quick and has the capability of acting anonymous.
Currently, there are about 12 million Bitcoins out there. That’s a total Bitcoin economy of about 10 billion dollars.
