United States Federal Government Shutdown
The shutdown of the United Sates Federal Government has entered its second week. The treasury department has set an October 17th, deadline to raise the debt ceiling.
Last Saturday, The House voted unanimously on a Bill that will guarantee federal employees be paid back for those days missed due to the shutdown.
Chuck Hagel, the current Secretary of Defense ordered 350, 000 employees back to work Monday.
It seems like a conflict of interest to have the The House vote for themselves to be paid back, when they are responsible for this mess. It’s irresponsible for our elected representatives to be so conflicted that they can’t even agree that keeping the government open is best for the people. Besides that, it sets a horrible example abroad. We are a superpower that has prided ourselves partly on helping to put failed states back together. It’s time for another change. This time, let’s put some true American Patriots in office. We are the people, and we can still accomplish anything we set our mind to.
