100 oz Asahi Refining Silver Bar

These new 100 oz silver bars are produced by Asahi Refining, a company that took over significant assets from Johnson Matthey. Currently, these brand new 100 oz Asahi Silver Bars are available from Veldt Gold, and you can purchase them using Bitcoin, Ethereum, Monero, and other cryptocurrencies.

For serious investors, the 100 oz Asahi Silver Bar may look notably familiar. Asahi Refining swiftly established its business by acquiring two refineries from Johnson Matthey, as the latter scaled back its refining activities in the precious metals industry. Despite bearing the markings of the new company, the molds appear similar to those previously utilized by Johnson Matthey.

However, these bars are newly minted by Asahi Refining. Over the past few years, Johnson Matthey has been gradually exiting the gold and silver refining business, culminating in the complete sale of its precious metals holdings and facilities to Asahi Refining in July 2015, following an announcement in December 2014.

The obverse of these 100 oz Asahi Silver Bars features the new refiner’s stamp at the top. Within an oval at the top of the bar are the words “Assayers, Refiners,” with the name of the new company encircling it as “Asahi SLC.” The only other engravings on these bars include the weight, purity marked as “999,” and the assayer’s mark in the bottom corner.

Although Asahi Refining officially completed its acquisition of Johnson Matthey facilities in July 2015, the transition of operations and production began earlier that year. In March 2015, Asahi Holdings assumed control of the Johnson Matthey precious metals refineries in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, and Brampton, Ontario, Canada, and commenced operations under the Asahi Refining name.
